LESSON 2: CHASSIS
Yaw Rate Sensor
The yaw rate sensor measures the relative vehicle motion around the vertical axis through its center of gravity. In
other words, it tells the stability assist module if the vehicle is oversteering.
Lateral Accelerometer
The lateral accelerometer measures the acceleration as the vehicle slides sideways and is incorporated into the
same unit as the yaw rate sensor. The lateral accelerometer will measure some lateral acceleration due to gravity,
if the vehicle is parked sideways on a slope, even though the vehicle is not moving.
Longitudinal Accelerometer (4WD Vehicles)
The longitudinal accelerometer measures the acceleration when the vehicle moves forward and rearward along the
centerline of the vehicle's front and rear wheels.
Location
These sensors are located under the carpet, below the right rear passenger seat.
