Coolant
The Explorer and Mountaineer cooling systems use premium gold coolant. Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine
Coolant:
Provides a 5-year/100,000-mile life for initial fill.
Loses its long life if mixed with conventional coolant.
Is ethylene glycol based, similar to conventional green coolant.
Unlike conventional coolant, contains nitrites, a single organic acid, and no phosphates.
Is not compatable with orange Organic Acid Technology (OAT) coolant.
Always use Ford-specified coolants and chemicals when servicing the Explorer and Mountaineer cooling system.
