The cylinder bore finish, taper and roundness tolerances:
– Improve and increase the longevity of the piston ring-to-cylinder wall seal.
– Assist in the reduction in engine oil consumption.
– Improve the life of the catalytic converter substrate to meet LEV II requirements for the full useful life of the
vehicle.
The oil drainback design:
– Internal passage modifications improve oil drainback.
– Reduces the volume of oil that remains in the upper end of the engine.
The materials used for the following seals and gaskets have improved materials to minimize the level of
evaporative emission permeation:
Intake manifold.
Upper-to-lower intake manifold gasket.
Intake manifold-to-cylinder head gasket.
Throttle body-to-intake manifold gasket.
Oil filter-to-cylinder block gasket.
Oil adaptor and bolt seal.
Dipstick O-ring.
Dipstick tube O-ring.
Oil pan gasket.
Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor O-ring.
