Many
problems
have
correspondingly simple solution. The following chapter
describes a few difficulties you may encounter, and the
measures you need to take to cure them.
If you find it impossible to solve a problem with the help
of these notes please disconnect the unit from the mains
and ask your authorised  specialist dealer for advice.
General problems
Problem:
Machine does not switch on.
Cause 1:
Mains cable not plugged in correctly.
Remedy:
Check connections, push plugs in firmly.
A B device on the R
Cause 2:
connected to the mains supply.
Connect all the B devices in the system
Remedy:
to the mains supply.
Problem:
No superimposed on-screen messages
(MENU, INFOBOX etc.).
Cause:
The VSP 1250 R is set to DIRECT function.
Remedy:
Switch the DIRECT function off (see
 button on the front panel).
Picture problems
Problem:
No picture on the HDMI or DVI monitor.
Cause 1:
The resolution on the VSP 1250 R is set to
a format which the monitor cannot process.
Remedy:
Switch the VSP 1250 R to a resolution
which is compatible with your monitor.
You will find this information in your
monitor's instruction manual.
To set the resolution on the VSP 1250 R:
see the chapter entitled 'Front panel
controls', RES button.
Cause 2:
Only relevant to DVI monitors:

Remedy:
Only monitors which fulfil the HDCP copy
protection standard are suitable for use
with the VSP 1250 R.
Cause 3:
If long cables are used between the
VSP 1250 R and the monitor:
The quality of the HDMI or DVI cable in use
is too poor, and is not suitable for the
extremely high-frequency digital HDMI /
DVI signals.
Remedy:
Very good-quality HDMI or DVI cables must
always be used.

Cause 4:
The DVI / HDMI lead is kinked or damaged.
Remedy:
The cables must be in perfect condition, i.e.
they must not exhibit damage or sharp
bends (kinks) (radius less than 10 cm).
Please check the leads and either re-
deploy them or install replacement cables.
Cause 5:
The HDMI / DVI connecting lead is
excessively long.
Remedy:
The extremely high-frequency DVI / HDMI
signals can be transferred over distances of
up to about 10 ... 15 m if top-quality cables
are used. For longer distances, special
optical glass fibre cables can be employed;
these
connectors at the input and output ends.
If you wish to use these cables (known as
active cables) with your VSP 1250 R,
please note that they must be powered by
their own mains PSU. They must not draw
their energy from the HDMI output of the
VSP 1250 R, as this could cause damage
to the machine.
Problem:
No
sources.
Cause 1:
Incorrect input selected on the VSP 1250 R.
Remedy:
Switch the VSP 1250 R to the AV1 input.
Cause 2:
Composite video cable not connected
between the surround receiver and the
VSP 1250 R (AV1 input).
Remedy:
Connect the appropriate cable.
Cause 3:
The correct type of video signal for the
source concerned has not been assigned
at the surround receiver.
Remedy:
Set the video signal type to Video (or FBAS
or CVBS) ('VIDEO inputs' setup menu on
the SR 1535 R / DD 1535 R).
