Installing PLS Interface
The Premises Lightwave System (PLS) is used to connect IBM* 3270 Type A terminals to a
IBM 3274 cluster controller. An optical fiber backbone and station cable are used instead of
coaxial cables. When a PLS and System 75 or System 75 XE are collocated, voice and data
can be shared on the same information outlet as shown in Figure 3-143.
The voice pair that connects to a TN742 or TN769 Analog Line circuit pack port occupies the
first pair of the information outlet. The data pairs that connect to the PLS occupy the
second and third pairs of the information outlet. The voice and data pairs must be separated
at the blue or white field located in the equipment room or the blue field located in a
satellite location.
