6. Lower the timing gear into the cam chain
journal.
7. The punch mark on the timing gear should
align with the keyway in the crankshaft. The
procedure is as follows:
b)
Insert an appropriately-sized punch in the
gear alignment hole on the timing gear.
Apply a prying motion to the punch and
rotate the gears until both sets of teeth on
the timing gear align with one another.
c)
While aligning the teeth, insert the timing
gear further into the cam chain journal un-
til the timing gear engages the cam chain
drive gear on the crankshaft. Make sure
that the punch mark on the timing gear
aligns with the key positioned on the
crankshaft.
8. Install the timing gear shaft and secure it in
place with the stopper plate. Bolt the stop-
per plate to the crankcase. Torque the se-
curing bolt to specification.
Tightening torque:
12 Nm (1.2m-kg, 8.7ft-lb)
1. Timing gear shaft
9. Install the primary drive gear (33T), oil
pump drive gear (23T), plate washer, lock
washer, and nut. Finger-tighten the securing
nut, do not torque it at this point.

Be sure the tab of the lock washer engages the
slots in the plate washer.
