1. Damper compressor
3. Hydraulic press
6. Press the damper cam, and remove the
spring retainers.
7. Remove
the
retainer
spring seat, and the damper cams from the
drive shaft.
8. Inspect the damper cam surfaces. Check for
smooth cam action and excessive wear on
the cam surface. If cam surface is severely
worn, replace damper assembly.
9. Inspect the damper springs for fatigue, wear,
and damage. Replace as necessary.

10. Remove the guide collar, oil seal, and roller
bearing from the main housing by using the
press tool No. 1 and a press. Use the appro-
priate supports for the main housing during
this operation. The roller bearing may be re-
used if undamaged. Do not reuse the oil
seal.
11. Final-drive-shaft roller bearing; removal of
this bearing is difficult and seldom neces-
sary. Heat the bare housing to 150°C
(302°F). Use an appropriately-shaped punch
to remove the roller bearing outer race. Re-
move the inner race from the final drive
shaft.

Final gear assembly

1. Install the new rear final drive shaft roller
bearing. Heat the bearing housing to 150°C
(302°F) and use an appropriate adapter to
install the roller bearing outer race. Install
the inner race onto the final drive shaft.
2. Using the press tool No. 2 and a press, in-
stall the guide collar, new oil seal, and roller
bearing into the main housing in that order.
