3. Install the washer and circlip onto the shift
shaft.

Front-cylinder chain guide and drive gears.

1. Install the front cam chain guide in the right
side crankcase. Torque the bolt to specifica-
tion.
Tightening torque:
8 Mm (0,8 m-kg, 5.8ft • lb)
2. Slip the cam chain drive gear (28T) over the
right side of the crankshaft. By rotating the
gear, align the key ways in the crankshaft
and gear, and fit the key in the key ways.

3. Study the zero-lash timing gear. Note that it
has two sets of gear teeth. One set is spring
loaded and moves relative to the other set.
NOTE:
Each timing gear has an engraved number 1 or 2
on its side. Install the No. 1 gear on the front cylin-
der side and the No. 2 on the rear side.
4. By rotating the crankshaft by hand, bring
the key position to align with the center of
the front cylinder bore.
5. Attach a proper length of wire to the cam
chain and place the cam chain on the timing
gear sprocket.
