7. Remove the impeller shaft from the crank-
case cover.

Inspection

1. Remove the deposits from the impeller and
water pump housing.
2. Check the impeller for cracks, wear, or dam-
age. Replace if necessary.
3. Check the water pump seal set for wear and
damage. If damaged or worn, it should be
replaced.

4. Check the oil seal and bearing for damage
and wear. If damaged or worn excessively, it
is advisable to replace the oil seal, water
pump seal set, and bearing as a set.
5. Check the O-rings for damage. Replace if
necessary.
6. Replace the bearing, oil seal, and water
pump seal set in the following manner:
a) Remove the water pump seal #2 from the
case by tapping the seal body.

b) Remove the bearing and oil seal from the
case by taping them away from the water
pump seal side.
c) Remove the water pump seal #1 from the
impeller by carefully prying out seal with a
small screwdriver.

Assembly

1. Apply grease to oil seal lip. Install the oil seal
into the crankcase cover.
