HANDLING NOTES

WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap, especially when
the engine and radiator are hot. Scalding hot
fluid and steam may be blown out under pres-
sure, which could cause a serious injury.
To open the radiator cap, remove the radiator
cover by removing the four screws. When the
engine has cooled, place a thick rag, like a
towel, over the radiator cap; slowly rotate the
cap counterclockwise to the detent. This proce-
dure allows any residual pressure to escape.
When the hissing sound has stopped, press
down on the cap while turning counterclockwise
and remove it.

COOLANT REPLACEMENT

1. Draining the coolant,
a) ENGINE
1) Place an open container under the
engine.
2) Remove
the
radiator cover and
radiator cap.

3) Remove the drain bolts (two) from
each cylinder and the bottom of the
water pump cover. Drain the coolant.

HANDLING NOTES
b) RADIATOR
The coolant in the radiator cannot be
drained from the water pump cover drain
hole. To drain the radiator, proceed as fol-
lows:
1) Remove the screws (two) securing
the thermostatic valve cover and re-
move the cover. The coolant will rush
out.
2) Thoroughly flush the cooling system
with clean tap water.
