Disassembly

1. Remove the Y.I.C.S. chamber from the fuel
pump.
2. Remove the fuel pump from the carburetor
upper bracket.
3. Remove the six screws, and remove the fuel
pump covers, gaskets, diaphragms, and
valves from the fuel pump body.
4. Remove the three screws and remove the
regulator cover, spring, and diaphragm-from
the fuel pump body.

Inspection

1. Examine the fuel pump body and fuel pas-
sage. If they are contaminated, wash the fuel
pump body in a petroleum-based solvent.
Blow out all passages with compressed air.
2. Inspect the fuel pump diaphragm, valve, and
gasket for damage. If damaged, replace
these components as a set.
NOTE:
As shown below, a gap of 0.125 mm (0.005 in) is
provided between the valve seat and the fuel pump
body on both inlet and outlet valves.
3. Inspect the regulator rubber diaphragm and
spring. If the diaphragm is torn or the spring
is damaged, they should be replaced.

Assembly

1. Install the valves into the fuel pump body as
shown.
1. Inlet valve
2. Install the diaphragm, gaskets and covers
onto the fuel pump body. Tighten the screws
to specification.
Tightening torque:
3 Mm (0.3 m-kg., 2.2ft-lb.)
