Step
1
1) With the ignition switch "OFF", disconnect trim sensor
connector.
2) With the ignition switch "ON", check the voltage at the
"R" wire terminal of trim sensor connector.
Is the voltage approx. 4 – 5 V?

1) Check the trim sensor output voltage change.
Refer to "Trim Sensor Inspection" in Section 1C
(Page 1C-17).
Is it in good condition?

Poor trim sensor
connection, intermittent
trouble or a faulty ECM.

• "R" wire open, "R"
wire shorted to
ground circuit or poor
wire connection.
• If the wire and
connection is OK,
substitute a known-
good ECM and
recheck.
• "R" wire shorted to
"W/Y" wire, "B/W"
wire open, poor "B/
W" wire connection,
poor "W/Y" wire
connection, "W/Y"
wire open or poor trim
sensor connection.
• If the wire and
connection is OK,
intermittent trouble or
a faulty ECM may be
the cause.
• Faulty trim sensor.
