16.7 Withdraw the module from the
steering column and disconnect the wiring
connector
9 If removed, push the switch stalks back into
position in the module until they lock into place.
10 Refit the electronics module to the
steering wheel using a reverse of the removal
procedure.
Note: The following removal and refitting
procedure is for the range of radio/CD
units which Vauxha/1/0pel fit as standard
equipment. Removal and refitting procedures
of non-standard units may differ slightly.
Removal
1 All the radio/CD players fitted by Vauxhall

have DIN standard fixings. Two special tools,
obtainable from most car accessory shops,
are required for removal. Alternatively, suitable
tools can be fabricated from 3 mm diameter
wire, such as welding rod.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal
(refer to Disconnecting the battery in the
Reference Chapter).

Insert the tools into the holes on the front
of the unit, and push them until they snap into
place. The radio/CD player can then be slid
out of the facia (see illustration).
4 Disconnect the wiring and aerial connections
at the rear of the unit, and remove the unit
from the car.
Refitting
5 To refit the radio/CD, reconnect the wiring
and simply push the unit into the facia until the
retaining lugs snap into place. On completion,
reconnect the battery and enter the radio
security code, where applicable.

1 Carefully prise off the speaker trim panel,
complete with speaker, to release the internal
retaining clips.
2 Disconnect the wiring connector and unclip
the speaker from the panel (see illustration}.
3 Refitting is the reverse of removal.

Remove the door inner trim panel as
described in Chapter 11 .
5 Undo the retaining screws, then free the
speaker from its location (see illustration).
Disconnect the wiring connectors and remove
the speaker.
6 Refitting is the reverse of removal.
1 Where required, the aerial mast can be
unscrewed from the base unit.
2 Removal of the base unit entails removal
of the headlining, which is a complicated
operation, considered to be outside the scope
of this manual. Therefore, any problems
relating to the aerial base unit or wiring should
be entrusted to a Vauxhall/Opel dealer.
20 Anti·theft alarm
system
general Information
Note: This information is applicable only to the
anti-theft alarm system fitted by Vauxha/1/0pel
as
standard equipment.
1 Most models in the range are fitted with
an anti-theft alarm system as standard
equipment. The alarm is automatically
armed and disarmed when the deadlocks
are operated using the driver's door lock or
remote control key. The alarm has switches
on all the doors (including the tailgate), the
bonnet, the radio/CD player and the ignition
and starter circuits. If the tailgate, bonnet or
any of the doors are opened whilst the alarm is
set, the alarm horn will sound and the hazard
warning lights will flash. The alarm also has an
immobiliser function which makes the ignition
and starter circuits inoperable whilst the alarm
is triggered.
2 The alarm system performs a self-test
every time it is switched on; this test takes
approximately 10 seconds. During the
self-test, the LED (light emitting diode) in the
hazard warning light switch will come on. If the
LED flashes, then either the tailgate, bonnet or
