•30 Bodywork and fittings
Facia crossmember
Note: This is an involved operation entailing
the disconnection of
a
multitude of wiring
connectors. Make notes on the location of
all disconnected wiring, or attach labels to
the connectors, to avoid confusion when
refitting.
Removal
50 Remove the facia as described previously
in this Section.
51 Remove the front doors as described in
Section 11.
52 Remove the brake pedal as described in
Chapter 9.
53 Remove the clutch pedal as described in
Chapter 6.
54 Remove the gear lever housing or
selector lever assembly as described in
Chapter 7A or 78, as applicable.
55 Undo the six bolts securing the cross-
member centre supports to the crossmember
and floor brackets.
56 Disconnect all remaining earth cables and
wiring connections, making careful notes as
to their locations.
57 From outside the car, undo the two bolts
securing the crossmember to the A-pillar on
each side.
58 With the help of an assistant, check that
all wiring has been disconnected, then remove
the crossmember from the car.
Refitting
59 Refitting is a reversal of removal ensuring
that all wiring is correctly reconnected and all
mountings securely tightened.
