    Safety 3.3    Safety instructions for use CAUTION Unsecured screw connections Pinching, crushing, tipping over, falling of user due to assembly errors X After all adjusting/readjusting work, retighten the mounting screws/nuts firmly� Observe any torque settings which may be specified� X Any time you loosen a screw connection with thread lock, replace it with a new screw connection or secure the old screw connection with medium strength thread locker (e�g� Loctite® 241)� CAUTION Improper use of self-locking nuts Tipping, falling over of the user due to screw connections coming loose X Always replace self-locking nuts with new self-locking nuts after disassembly� INFORMATION The seat is intended for use with Ottobock mobility bases� Observe the safety information in the instructions for use of the mobility base that is used� 3.4    Hazards during preparation for use WARNING Independent modification of settings Serious injuries to the user due to unallowable changes to the product X Do not modify the settings established by the qualified personnel� Only the settings described in the section "Use" in these instructions for use may be adjusted independently� X In case of problems with the settings (unsatisfactory seating position, front wheels wobble etc�) please con- tact the qualified personnel who adjusted your product� X Discuss all changes to the settings with the qualified personnel/therapist in advance in order to minimize health hazards and avoid putting the therapy results at risk� CAUTION Use of unsuitable tools Pinching, crushing or damaging the product due to use of unsuitable tools X When completing the tasks, only use tools that are suitable for the conditions at the place of work and for which safety and the protection of health are assured with proper use�...

    Safety NOTICE Use of unsuitable packaging Damage to the product caused by transportation using incorrect packaging X Use only the original packaging for delivery of the product� 3.5    Hazard in case of broken skin CAUTION Prolonged contact with broken skin Reddening of the skin or pressure points due to contamination with germs or incorrectly adapted seat cushion X Check before using the product that the skin is not broken in areas subject to prolonged pressure (e�g�, buttocks, back and rear side of the thighs)� X In case of problems, please contact the qualified personnel who adjusted the product� X No liability is assumed for injuries caused by the use of the product with broken skin� 3.6    Hazards due to fire, heat and cold CAUTION Seat cushion or back upholstery may ignite Burns due to user error X The seat cushion and back upholstery are flame retardant but nevertheless flammable� Therefore the utmost caution must be exercised in the vicinity of an open flame� X Keep away from all ignition sources, especially lit cigarettes� CAUTION Extreme temperatures Hypothermia or burns through contact with components, failure of components X Do not expose the product to any extreme temperatures (e�g� direct sunlight, sauna, extreme cold)� 3.7    Further information INFORMATION Even in the event of compliance with all applicable guidelines and standards, alarm systems (e�g� in department stores) may respond to your product� Should this happen, remove your product from the area where the alarm was triggered�...

    Delivery 4    Delivery 4.1    Scope of delivery The scope of delivery includes: • Multi positioning seat (standard option) • Options according to the order • Instruction for use 4.2    Storage The seat must be stored in a dry place� An ambient temperature between -10 °C and +40 °C must be maintained� Direct exposure to sunlight or UV radiation causes the components to age more quickly� This results in more rapid material fatigue, which can lead to limited functionality and unwanted defects� 5    Preparation for use 5.1    Assembly CAUTION Exposed pinch points Crushing, pinching due to incorrect handling X When folding out the backrest, only grip by the specified components� CAUTION Improper assembly Falling, tipping over of the user due to components coming off X When attaching the seat, make sure you hear it engage into the mobility base� X Secure the seat using the seat lock� CAUTION Non-activated tilt-limiting mechanism Falling out of the user due to user error X Before rotating the seat, always adjust the tilt-limiting mechanism on the mobility base�...

    Settings and use 5.2    Handing over the product WARNING Lack of instruction Serious injuries to the user due to improper handling of the product X Instruct the attendants in the safe use of the product when handing it over� The following steps must be performed for the safe handover of the product: • Have the user get into the product and perform a trial seat fitting� Pay special attention to proper positioning according to medical considerations� • The attendants must be instructed in safe use of the product� In particular, these instructions for use are to be used� • The instructions for use must be given to the attendant upon delivery of the product� • The attendant should acknowledge that he or she has been instructed in how to use the product and was in- formed of the residual risks� 6    Settings and use 6.1    Safety instructions for use WARNING Independent modification of settings Serious injuries to the user due to unallowable changes to the product X Do not modify the settings established by the qualified personnel� X In case of problems with the settings (unsatisfactory seating position, caster wheel wobble etc�) please con- tact the qualified personnel who adjusted your product� WARNING Impermissible use Tipping over, rolling over of the user due to failure to observe specifications X Using a rehab buggy with the multi positioning seat beyond normal conditions may be dangerous� X Do not exceed the maximum load capacity (see the section "Technical data")�...

    Settings and use CAUTION Failure to check for proper functioning Falling, tipping over of the user due to lack of maintenance X In the interest of the user's safety, check the product for correct function before each use� X Please also read the instructions in the section "Maintenance" > "Maintenance intervals"� CAUTION Unsecured screw connections Pinching, crushing, tipping over, falling of user due to assembly errors X After all adjusting/readjusting work, retighten the mounting screws/nuts firmly� Observe any torque settings which may be specified� X Any time you loosen a screw connection with thread lock, replace it with a new screw connection or secure the old screw connection with medium strength thread locker (e�g� Loctite® 241)� CAUTION Improper use of self-locking nuts Tipping, falling over of the user due to screw connections coming loose X Always replace self-locking nuts with new self-locking nuts after disassembly� INFORMATION Please also observe the safety instructions in the section "Safety" > "Safety instructions for use"� In the interest of user safety, the following inspection must be conducted prior to use: 1� Verify firm locking of the seat and back angle adjustment mechanism� 2� Verify the functionality of all belt buckles on the safety belts and/or positioning aids� 6.2    Removing and mounting the seat CAUTION Incorrect mounting of the seat Falling out of the user if the seat is not secured X Secure the seat using the seat lock� X When attaching the seat, make sure that it engages into the mobility base� To facilitate transportation of the rehab buggy in a passenger vehicle or to divide the weight into two units for lifting, the seat can be easily detached from and reattached to the outdoor mobility base�...

    Settings and use Mounting the seat See the section „Assembly: mounting the seat“� 6.3    Adjusting the back angle CAUTION Change in centre of gravity following back angle adjustment Falling over, falling out of the user due to adjustment errors X After each modification of the back angle, check the tilt stability� To do so, hold the product with both hands by the push handle/push bar� The backrest can be adjusted as needed in a range from 90° to 140°: 1� Pull the catch and turn by 90° (see Fig� 8)� Æ The lock is released (see Fig� 9)� 2� Open the screw connection so the back angle can be adjusted (see Fig� 10)� 3� Move the backrest forward/backward to the desired position� INFORMATION: Please note that in the maximum position (lying flat), the footplate must be adjusted so that the us- er‘s feet can comfortably reach it� 4� Fasten the screw connection again in order to secure the back angle� 5� Turn the catch back and let it engage� Æ The back angle adjustment is locked (see Fig� 11)� 12 | Ottobock...

    Settings and use 6.4    Adjusting the seat depth 1� Remove the seat padding from the seat plate, including the hook and loop secured plastic seat insert� 2� Loosen the hex head screws on the right and left seat rail so that the seat rails slide into a longer or shorter position� 3� Tighten the hex head screws to secure the seat rail at the desired seat depth� 4� Take the plastic seat insert that was removed and line it up with the front edge of the seat and press to secure the hook and loop� 5� Put the padded seat cushion back onto the seat, tucking any remaining cushion depth between the gap of the back shell and the seat� 6.5    Adjusting the seat width 1� Remove the seat padding from the seat plate (see Fig� 12)� 2� Open the rear hook-and-loop closure of the seat padding and carefully remove the foam pad (see Fig� 16)� 3� Adjust the width of the seat by removing the appropriate number of segmented foam strips from the right and left lateral thigh supports� 4� Carefully insert the foam pad back into the cover and close it� 5� Position the entire seat padding back on the seat plate� Ottobock | 13...

    Settings and use 6.6    Adjusting the back height 1� Remove the back pad (see Fig� 18)� 2� Use a Phillips head screw driver to loosen the set screw in the center of each knob which secure the back shell and the laterals to the back (6 total knobs)� 3� Loosen the knobs to allow the two back plates to slide past each other� 4� Slide the back plates to the desired height and tighten down the knobs for the back and laterals� 5� Tighten the set screw in the center of each knob to prevent the knobs from loosening� 6� Replace the back padding tucking any residual length of the back pad into the gap between the seat and back� 6.7    Adjusting the armrest height and angle 1� Open the screws underneath the armrest� 2� Set the armrest to the desired height and angle, and retighten the screws (see Fig� 23)� 14 | Ottobock...

    Settings and use 6.12    Additional options 6.12.1    Headrests The seat can be equipped with a headrest that provides additional support to the head for certain indications� 6.12.1.1    Contoured headrest  Depth adjustment: 1� Turn the star handle on the back of the headrest to loosen it, set the headrest to the desired depth and retighten the star handle (see Fig� 27)� Height adjustment: 1� Insert the headrest in the guide (see Fig� 28) and then slide it into the holder on the backrest (see Fig� 29)� 2� To adjust the height, turn the star handle to loosen it, set the headrest to the desired height and retighten the star handle (see Fig� 30)� Angle adjustment: 1� Loosen the 3 screws on the back of the headrest, set the angle at the desired position and retighten the 3 screws (see Fig� 31)�...

  • Page 18 Settings and use 2� Lay the eyelet at the end of the belt over the screw (see Fig� 34), screw on the rotary knob (see Fig� 35), reinsert the screws and tighten them firmly� Adjusting the belt 1� Close the snap buckle on the belt and pull the belt to the desired length� Using the belt 1� Open the snap buckle on the belt� 2� Sit the user into the seat� 3� Close the snap buckle on the belt� 6.12.2.2    5-point harness The seat can be equipped with a 5-point harness (see Fig� 35)� It additionally stabilizes the pelvis and shoulders and prevents the user from sliding out of the seat� The buckle makes it easy to get in and out� Mounting the harness 1� Adjust the shoulder straps at the rear of the seat to the desired length� In order to do so, slide the hole in the shoulder strap for the corresponding length over the screw (see Fig� 36), tighten with the wing nut and secure with the Phillips head screw� 2� Remove the seat padding (see Fig� 38), lift the upper seat plate and remove it (see Fig� 39)� 3� Thread the groin strap through two slots from the top to the bottom and then back up again (see Fig� 40)� 4� Put the upper seat plate back into place� 5� Insert the safety bracket into the foremost narrow slot and attach it to the lower seat plate using the two screws (see Fig� 41)� 6� Information: The screws may only be tightened to such a degree that the safety bracket is not placed under tension� 18 | Ottobock...
