6.14 Use in a wheelchair accessible vehicle
6.14.1 General safety instructions
WARNING
Use as a seat in a wheelchair accessible vehicle
Serious injuries in case of accidents due to user error
X Always use the seats and restraint systems in the wheelchair accessible vehicle first� This is the only way to
provide optimal protection for the occupants in case of an accident�
X The product was tested for use in a wheelchair accessible vehicle in combination with a Kimba Neo outdoor
mobility base, a headrest and the butterfly harness� For more information please refer to our brochure on
using Ottobock products in wheelchair accessible vehicles, order number 646D158�
X The product may only be used as a seat in a wheelchair accessible vehicle with the securing elements of-
fered by the manufacturer and with suitable restraint systems�
X Please note that you must always remove certain options before using the product in a wheelchair accessible
vehicle�
X As a matter of principle, only use the product in wheelchair accessible vehicles with the seat facing in the
driving direction�
X As a matter of principle, only use the product in wheelchair accessible vehicles with the seat locked horizon-
tally and the backrest locked in the upright position�
WARNING
Incorrect transport weight when using in a wheelchair accessible vehicle
Serious injuries in case of accidents due to exceeding the allowable load capacity
X During use in a wheelchair accessible vehicle, the maximum user weight in the seat is limited to 35 kg�
WARNING
Use of the belt system as a restraint system in a wheelchair accessible vehicle is forbidden
Serious injuries due to improper handling of the product
X Under no circumstances may the safety belts and positioning aids offered with the product be used as part of
a restraint system for transportation in a wheelchair accessible vehicle�
X Note that the safety belts and positioning aids offered with the product are only intended to help support the
user sitting in the product�
INFORMATION
For transporting children up to 36 kg, Ottobock urgently recommends using a restraint system for children (so-
called child car seat) tested according to ECE 44�03 or higher, or a restraint system according to ECE 44�04 de-
veloped especially for disabled children (e�g� "Lars" child car seat from Ottobock)� Observe the legal regulations
for your country/state in all cases�
6.14.2 Permitted use
The product may be used for transport in a wheelchair accessible vehicle if a suitable restraint system is used� The
safety belts and positioning aids offered by the manufacturer only serve to further stabilize the person using the
product�
The following options must be removed from the product prior to transport in the wheelchair accessible vehicle:
• Canopy
• Positioning tray
The following options must be used for transport in the wheelchair accessible vehicle:
• Headrest
• Butterfly or 5-point harness (in addition to the passenger restraint system)
