4.8.3 Electrical Connection in Hazardous Area

Special interconnections are required for use in hazardous areas depending on the safety requirements.
Caution. Refer to Section 2, page 11 and Section 10, page 90 for hazardous area risk requirements.
Intrinsic safety
The power supply SPS inputs must have corresponding input protection circuits available to eliminate spark
hazards. An interconnection inspection must be performed. For proof of intrinsic safety, the electrical limit
values must be used as the basis for the prototype test certificates of the transmitters, including the
capacitance and inductance values of the wires. Proof of intrinsic safety is granted if the conditions in Table
4.4 are fulfilled.
