RAID Troubleshooting

Problem
SCA-2 fault status LED lit.
SCA-2 drive status and fault
status LEDs lit.
SCA-2 fault status LED
flashing.
SCA-2 fault status LED is
either on or off; fault status
LED flashing.
Replaced SCA-2 disk drive
does not spin up to speed.
Multiple SCA-2 disk drives
have failed.
SCA-2 disk drive not seen
by RAID adapter.
Possible Cause
SCA-2 disk drive failed.
SCA-2 disk drive hung or
has failed.
SCA-2 disk drive failed and
is spinning down.
SCA-2 disk drive is active
and spinning down due to a
fault.
SCA-2 disk drive not seen
by RAID adapter.
No power available.
SCSI cable not connected.
Incorrect SCSI termination.
Duplicate SCSI IDs on the
bus.
Defective SCA-2 disk drive.
SCA-2 disk drive
improperly inserted.
Defective RAID adapter
SCSI channels.
Troubleshooting
Action
Replace SCA-2 disk drive.
Replace SCA-2 disk drive.
Replace SCA-2 disk drive.
Correct the fault or replace the
SCA-2 disk drive.
Manually rebuild the SCA-2 disk
drive.
Remove the SCA-2 disk drive, wait
20 seconds, reinsert SCA-2 disk
drive. Wait one minute and then
rebuild the SCA-2 disk drive.
Restore power, run the RAID
configuration utility and change the
state of any failed (FLD) SCA-2
disk drive to optimal (OPT).
Run the RAID configuration utility
and check for bad blocks on the
SCA-2 disk drives. Repair any bad
blocks.
Check all SCSI connections.
Properly terminate the SCSI bus.
Check SCA-2 disk drive SCSI ID
settings.
Replace SCA-2 disk drive.
Reinsert SCA-2 disk drive.
Replace the RAID adapter.
