FM MENU BASIC MODE
Omnia.9 features downward expanders in its multiband AGC stage to help control noise in the content itself (for
example, tape hiss present on an old recording) or environmental noise (such as HVAC noise in the studio). The
maximum amount of downward expansion is determined by the Noise Reduction Amount control. The setting of the
Noise Reduction Threshold control determines the point at which the expanders begin to react.
The Phase Scrambler button enables or disables the phase scrambler. Certain sharp sounds with high harmonic content
(such as trumpets or some synthesized sounds) are low in energy but contain high peaks. Since peaks must be limited
to prevent over-deviation of the FM carrier, and if the majority of those peaks are removed by clipping, the sound may
become dull and distorted.
The Phase Scrambler, without employing limiting or clipping of its own, slightly offsets the various harmonics present
in the audio to drastically lower the peak level, thereby allowing much more of the audio to pass through the final clipper.
The result is a dramatically improved high end and less distortion.
The Phase Rotator button enables or disables the phase rotator. Phase rotation is recommended primarily for stations
airing talk programming who are also trying to achieve high levels of loudness as it can adversely affect transient "punch"
desirable on music formats.

Enhance Menu

The Enhance Menu under the Basic Adjustment level is a combination of controls that are separated under the higher levels of
Adjustment. The Enhance menu contains controls that affect the spectral balance of processed audio as well as enhancements
to the stereo image.
In presets with 4 to 7 bands, the Deep Bass control simultaneously adjusts the lowest band of the parametric equalizer,
the target level of Band 1 in the multiband AGC, and the setting of Band 1 in the Band Mix Output control. In presets with
only 2 or 3 bands, only the parametric EQ is adjusted. Advancing the control increases the amount of deep bass.
The Warmth control works in the same manner as Deep Bass but operates on the mid-bass and low-mid range of
frequencies by adjusting the parametric equalizer. Additionally, in presets with 4 to 7 bands, it adjusts the target setting
of Band 2 in the multiband AGC and output level of Band 2 in the Band Mix Output.
The Presence control adjusts high-mid frequencies. Like the other Enhance controls, it adjusts the parametric equalizer.
In presets with 5 to 7 bands, it also adjusts the multiband AGC target setting of Band 5 and the output of Band 5 in the
Band Mix Output.
The Brilliance control adjusts high frequencies with the parametric equalizer. In 4 and 5 band presets, it also adjusts the
target setting of the highest band of the multiband AGC along with the output level of the highest band in the Band Mix
Output.
