Overview / Metadata Menu

The Overview menu gives you the status of available encoders and metadata.
Omnia 9's built-in http server can be used to feed information such as the song title and artist information to each stream. The
Default URL is an example, and feeds from a now playing generator written into the HTTP server, with a canned list of 40 of
arguably the worst songs ever written in the history of mankind such as: Rebecca Black – Friday, Black Eyed Peas – My Humps
and MIMS – This is why I'm hot.
Now Playing info is handled on the Overview page under "Streams", and there are two ways to input it:
1. Set "Metadata Source" to "Edit Box", and then use the HTTP server to update
stream1/strm_new/metadata_strm parameter every time the song name changes, in an automated fashion. This may
be something you need your IT department to set up.
2. Set "Metadata Source" to "Fetch from URL", and the Omnia.9 will periodically fetch the song title from a server which
must present it as plain text, no frills. The afore mentioned canned song name generator in the Omnia.9's HTTP
server can be used as an example of what format is required. The default URL
generator?stream=1. Because it's accessible through the HTTP server, you can copy the URL in the Metadata page (and
change the IP address from 127.0.0.1 to the actual LAN IP of the Omnia.9) and paste it into a web browser, to see what
data format the unit is expecting – which is plain text with no frills. It's useful to have as a working example, which is why
it is included in the software.
