FM MENU EXPERT MODE

Power Limiter

The Power Limiter menu allows you to adjust settings for BS-412 operation. This screen will only appear if you have selected to
run BS-412 power limiting (an ITU standard, mandated by some countries). To enable BS-412, go to Home/System/System
Configuration/Processing Paths and enable MPX Power Control.

Clipper

The Clipper Menu contains controls that allow the sound and texture of the clipper to be fine tuned. Please remember that the
overall clipper drive is determined by the "Input Gain" control in the "Input Adjust" menu. There are 3 screens in the Expert
mode. Use the buttons on the left to navigate between Main, Highs and Lows.
The Final Clip Drive control sets the drive of the final clipper. Decreasing the drive (moving the slider to the left)
reduces the amount of clipping. Conversely, increasing the drive (moving the slider to the right) will result in more
clipping. Less clipping will result in a more open, less-processed, cleaner sound, but at the expense of overall loudness.
More clipping can result in a louder on-air sound – but only up to a point. Even if total dial domination and loudness
are your processing goals, there comes a point when the final wave-form is completely full, and increasing the amount
of clipping will no longer yield additional loudness – only more distortion. We strongly recommend using Omnia.9's
oscilloscope as well as your ears to monitor the MPX Output signal while adjusting the final clip drive. This control
ranges from -6.0 to +6.0 in one-quarter dB increments, which should give you the (correct) impression that small
changes make a big difference in the sound. Keep in mind that a setting of +0.00 means the control is at the middle of its
range, but does not necessarily mean that no clipping is taking place.
The Bass Clipper Slope control determines the slope characteristics of the bass clipper.
