Depress the brake pedal.

Move the gear lever to position R.
R is shown in the multifunction display.

Release the brake pedal.
The vehicle starts moving.

Depress the accelerator pedal smoothly.
The vehicle accelerates.

The vehicle has a crawl function. The
vehicle pulls away when you release the

brake pedal.

WARNING
Do not leave the vehicle parked with the
ignition switched on and a gear engaged.
The vehicle could roll away and cause an
accident.

WARNING
Never leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle. They could release the parking
brake. This could lead to a serious or fatal
accident.

Park the vehicle.
X
Depress the brake pedal.
X
Apply the parking brake.
The J indicator lamp in the instru-
ment cluster lights up.
X
Shift the gear lever to position P.
X
Switch the ignition off.
Parking brake
The parking brake prevents the stationary
or parked vehicle from rolling away.

WARNING
When stopping on a gradient and when park-
ing, the vehicle must be additionally
secured with the parking brake. The vehi-
cle could otherwise roll away, even if the
gear lever has been moved to position P.
This could cause an accident, possibly
resulting in injury to you or others.

To apply: pull parking brake : up
firmly.
The lever engages in place when pulled
upwards. When the ignition is switched
on, the J indicator lamp in the
instrument cluster lights up.

To release: depress the brake pedal and
keep it depressed.
X
Pull parking brake : slightly.
X
Press release button ; on parking brake
and move the parking brake down to the
stop.
When the ignition is switched on, the
J indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster goes out.

WARNING
The movement of the pedals must not be
impaired in any way. Do not keep any
objects in the driver's footwell.
If you use a floormat* in the driver's foot-
well, make sure that it is correctly secured
and that there is sufficient clearance for
the pedals.
Always apply the parking brake when park-
ing the vehicle.
Never leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle. They could move the gear lever and
the vehicle could roll away on uphill or
downhill gradients.
