Depress the brake pedal quickly and
with maximum force, even if it is already
pulsating. This enables the maximum
braking effect to be achieved.

WARNING
You should always adapt your driving style
to suit the prevailing road and weather
conditions and maintain a sufficient dis-
tance from other road users and objects on
the road.
If ABS is faulty, the wheels could lock when
braking. This limits the steerability of the
vehicle when braking and the braking dis-
tance may increase.
Electronic stability program (esp
The vehicle is equipped with the Elec-
tronic Stability Program (esp
®
ard. esp monitors driving stability and
traction, i.e. power transmission between
the tyres and the road surface.

esp may intervene in the following driv-
ing situations:
avoiding an obstacle that suddenly

appears
when cornering at excessive speed

spinning of the drive wheels when pull-
R
ing away

While esp intervenes, the ÷ warn-
ing lamp flashes in the instrument clus-
ter.

esp detects when a wheel spins or the
vehicle starts to skid.
Depending on the driving situation:

esp reduces throttle.

esp brakes individual wheels selec-

tively.

esp adjusts the speed of rotation of the

drive wheels.

cluster flashes, proceed as follows:

Hydraulic Brake Assist
The hydraulic Brake Assist intervenes in
emergency braking situations. If you
depress the brake pedal quickly but not
firmly enough, the hydraulic Brake Assist
automatically boosts the braking force and
may shorten the stopping distance.

until the emergency braking situation is
