Driving on downhill gradients
Please note the following to ensure that you
do not exceed the maximum permissible
speed when driving on downhill gradients:
When driving on downhill gradients, do
R
not move the gear lever to position N.
Recuperation is restricted when:
R
the high-voltage battery is full or too
-
cold
the power electronics or engine has
-
overheated
If necessary, brake the vehicle as well to
prevent it from moving too fast. When
braking, do not brake continuously. Only
brake intermittently.
Recuperation
Recuperation power is limited if the high-
voltage battery is fully charged or too
cold.
The vehicle may only be decelerated via the
accelerator pedal to a limited degree or
may not be decelerated at all if:
the shift lever is position D and the
R
vehicle is rolling backwards
the shift lever is in position R and the
R
vehicle is rolling forwards
On steep slopes, the crawl function may not
be able to hold the vehicle at all or may only
be able to hold it to a limited degree.

Driving abroad

Symmetrical dipped-beam headlamps
If you drive in countries in which traffic
drives on the opposite side of the road to
the country where the vehicle is regis-
tered, oncoming traffic may be dazzled by
the asymmetrical dipped-beam headlamps.
Have the headlamps changed to symmetrical
dipped beam when driving in these coun-
tries.
You can have this conversion carried out at
a specialist workshop that is qualified for
smart electric drive vehicles, e.g. a smart
Centre.

Care

Notes
The value of your vehicle will be retained
by regular and proper care. The best pro-
tection from harmful environmental influ-
ences is regular cleaning and preserva-
tion. smart recommends performing a paint
treatment twice a year (e.g. in spring and
autumn).
