If the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator

lamp goes out, the front-passenger front
airbag is enabled. The front-passenger
front airbag may deploy during an acci-
dent.
Attaching a child restraint system with
the seat belt to the front passenger seat
When fitting a belt-secured child restraint
system on the front-passenger seat, always
observe the following:
O Be sure to observe the installation and
operating instructions provided by the
manufacturer for the child restraint
system being used.
O When using a "Universal" or "Semi-
Universal" category child restraint
system, ensure that it is approved for
the vehicle seat.
Observe the notes under "Suitability of
seats for attaching belt-secured child
restraint systems" (
O The backrest of a forward-facing child
restraint system must, as far as possi-
ble, rest flat against the backrest of the
front-passenger seat.
O For certain child restraint systems in
weight categories II or III, the maxi-
mum size setting may be restricted, for
instance due to possible contact with
the roof.
O The child restraint system must not be
put under strain between the roof and
the seat cushion and/or be fitted facing
the wrong direction.
O The child restraint system must not be
put under strain by the head restraint.
O Never place objects, such as a cushion,
under or behind the child restraint
system.

Set the front-passenger seat as far back
as possible.

Adjust the seat backrest to an almost
vertical position.

Fit the child restraint system.
The base of the child restraint system
must lie fully against the seat cushion of
the front-passenger seat.

Always make sure that the shoulder belt
strap is correctly routed from the vehicle
belt outlet to the shoulder belt guide on
the child restraint system.
The shoulder belt strap must be routed
forwards and downwards from the belt
outlet.

If necessary, adjust the belt outlet and
the front-passenger seat as appropriate.

Pets in the vehicle

If you leave animals unsupervised or
unsecured in the vehicle, they may press
buttons or switches, for instance.
In this way, animals may:
activate vehicle equipment and become

trapped, for example
switch systems on or off and thereby

endanger other road users
Furthermore, unsecured animals may be
flung around inside the vehicle in the
event of an accident or abrupt steering or
braking manoeuvre, and thereby injure
vehicle occupants. There is a risk of acci-
dent and injury.
Never leave animals unattended in the
vehicle.
Always secure animals properly when
driving, for instance with a suitable pet
carrier.

Make sure you have suitable tyres, so
that assistance systems and driving
safety systems can work as effectively as
possible.
If you fail to adapt your driving style or if
you are inattentive, the driving safety sys-
tems can neither reduce the risk of accident
nor override the laws of physics. Driving
safety systems are merely aids designed to
assist driving. You are responsible for the
