2.12.4 Speech Intelligibility Index
As a supporting feature the SII (Speech Intelligibility Index) indicates improved audibility expressed in a
percent on the aided display.
SII is a method for computing a physical measure of the intelligibility of speech. The method is based on
results of the speech perception tests in a given group of talkers and listeners. The SII is calculated from
acoustical measurements of speech and noise, taking into account the level of the distortion factor at
