(7) Remove the rear disc brake caliper from the
adapter and rotor (See Disc Brake Caliper Removal
in Removal and Installation section of this group)
(8) Remove the rear brake rotor from the rear hub/
bearing assembly.
(9) Remove the park brake shoes from the disc
brake adapter (See Rear Disc Brake Shoes in the
Removal and Installation section of this group).
(10) Remove the park brake actuator lever from
the rear park brake cable.
(11) Using a screwdriver, carefully compress the
retainer tabs securing the rear park brake cable to
the disc brake adapter.
(12) Remove the rear park brake cable from the
disc brake adapter and vehicle.
INSTALLATION
(1) Install the rear parking brake cable by routing
the leading end above the intermediate cable, then,
between the frame, crossmember, and stabilizer bar.
(2) Install the other end of the cable into the disc
brake adapter, allowing the retainer tabs to lock into
place in the adapter.
(3) Install the park brake actuator lever onto the
end of the rear park brake cable behind the spring.
(4) Reinstall the park brake shoes.
(5) Reinstall the rear disc brake rotor on the hub/
bearing.
(6) Reinstall the brake caliper on the rotor and
adapter.
(7) Install the caliper guide pin bolts and tighten
to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.).
(8) Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly.
(9) Raise the vehicle back up.
(10) Install the rear park brake cable into the rear
suspension crossmember mounting hole.
(11) Install a new retainer clip, on the end of the
cable housing, to secure it in place.
(12) Left rear cable only - Connect the left rear
park brake cable to the connector on the park brake
cable tensioner.
(13) Right rear cable only - Connect the right
rear park brake cable to the connector on the inter-
mediate park brake cable.
(14) When repairs are complete, adjust parking
brake shoes before adjusting parking brake tensioner.

PARKING BRAKE TENSIONER

REMOVAL
(1) Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a
frame contact type hoist. See Hoisting in the Lubri-
cation and Maintenance section of this manual for
the required lifting procedure to be used for this
vehicle.

(2) Remove the park brake tensioner adjuster nut
(Fig. 80), releasing the tensioner from the equalizer
bracket to the intermediate cable.
(3) Disconnect the connector and remove the park
brake tensioner from the left rear parking brake
cable (Fig. 80).
(4) Remove the park brake tensioner with its iso-
lator from the vehicle.
