Installing an additional hot-pluggable PCI Board

Make sure that your operating system supports the PCI hot-plug
functionality.
The current Windows operating systems support this functionality.

CAUTION!
The actions described in this section may only be performed by
personnel with the appropriate technical training. The device can be
seriously damaged if it is opened without authorization or if repairs are
attempted by untrained personnel.

In order to replace a hot-pluggable PCI board, the left side cover (floorstand
model) or the housing cover (rack model) must be removed as the slots are not
directly accessible.
Ê You should read the accompanying documentation supplied with the board
beforehand.
Ê Remove the left side cover (floorstand model) or the housing cover (rack
model) (see
section "Opening/Closing the Housing" on page

CAUTION!
The side/housing cover must be reinstalled as soon as possible due
to cooling, to comply with applicable EMC regulations (regulations on
electromagnetic compatibility) and to protect against fire. The
housing must not be left uncovered for more than 60 minutes.
Ê Close the clip (a) on the relevant hot-plug PCI slot by pressing the back of
the green plastic insert until it engages in the housing (see
page
101).
Ê Hold the removal tool by the green handle and pull it out of the PCI slot
together with the slot cover.
Ê Remove the slot cover from the removal tool as described in the following
section.
Ê Place the new PCI board in the tool as described in
