Replacing hot-pluggable PCI Boards

CAUTION!
The actions described in this section may only be performed by
personnel with the appropriate technical training. The device can be
seriously damaged if it is opened without authorization.

In order to replace a hot-pluggable PCI board, the left side cover (floorstand
model) or the housing cover (rack model) must be removed as the slots are not
directly accessible.
The failure of a hot-pluggable PCI board is indicated on the corresponding slot
on the back of the server (see
Ê You should read the accompanying documentation supplied with the board
beforehand.

Only PCI boards of the same type and with the same settings may be
exchanged. If the boards do not match, the new board will not be
commissioned.
Ê Remove the left side cover (floorstand model) or the housing cover (rack
model) (see
section "Opening/Closing the Housing" on page

CAUTION!
The side/housing cover must be reinstalled as soon as possible due
to cooling, to comply with applicable EMC regulations (regulations on
electromagnetic compatibility) and to protect against fire. The
housing must not be left uncovered for more than 60 minutes.
Ê If necessary, start the PCI hot-plug software (PCI Card HotReplace). You will
find operating instructions in the README file for the PCI Hot Plug Software
on the ServerStart disc 1.
Ê Deactivate the board using either the relevant PCI hot-plug software or by
pressing the optical waveguide (b) (see
