SYSTEM button menu
GPI. Configures the General Purpose Interface (GPI) inputs and outputs. Press
the ENTER button to access the GPI submenu. (See page 147, GPI submenu.)
LCD CONTRAST. Adjusts the contrast of the LCD display. Use the left (◄) or
right (►) arrow button to decrease or increase the display contrast.
BEEPER CONTROL. Enables or disables the beeper function in the instrument.
When enabled, the beeper alerts the user when a fan fault condition has been
detected. Use the left (◄) or right (►) arrow button to select Enable or Disable.
Press the ENTER button to confirm the selection.
FRONT PANEL DISABLE. Sets the time-out period until the front-panel buttons are
disabled. Use the left (◄) or right (►) arrow button to select from the following
choices: Off, Immediately, 1 Minute, 10 Minutes, 30 Minutes, and 1 Hour. Press
the ENTER button to enable the selection.
When you select any of these time-out periods (except Off), the front-panel
buttons are disabled when that time passes without a button push. If this happens,
press and hold the FRONT PANEL ENABLE button for a few seconds to restart
the time-out counter and enable the front-panel buttons.
POWER SUPPLY PREFERRED SELECT. When two Power Supply modules are
installed in the instrument (Option DPW) and both are connected to power, this
menu item selects which of the two supplies is the preferred (active) supply. Use
the left (◄) or right (►) arrow button to select Power Supply 1 or Power Supply 2.
NOTE.
It is recommended that you configure the supply with the most temperature
weighted hours to be used as the primary preferred supply. This allows for the
newer supply to be preserved so it can provide the best possible backup should the
primary supply fail. For more information about how to operate an instrument
with two power supplies, see the SPG8000 Quick Start User Manual.
FLASH MEMORY. Displays the total amount of flash memory that is installed in
the instrument and displays the amount of memory that remains free (available).
The flash memory is used by the custom test signal, frame picture, logo, font, and
text overlay files that you install in the instrument. When the amount of available
memory is low, you may need to delete some of these custom files from memory
before you can install new files.
OPTIONS. Displays which options are installed in the instrument. The possible
option readouts are GPS, BG, AG, SDI, and 3G. If no options are installed,
None is displayed.
To view the module ID and to enable Option 3G, select this menu item, and then
press the ENTER button to access the OPTIONS submenu. (See page 154,
OPTIONS submenu.)
