The Main Topmast Yard:
As with the fore topmast yard, the main topmast yard lift is formed with the main topgallant sheet and the main topgallant
clueline and as such will be rigged with these at a later stage.
The buntlines (one each side) are of 0.25mm natural thread as shown on
Plan Sheet
8. They are rigged exactly as per the fore
topmast yard buntlines and belay to the second (from the bottom) belaying pins in the main mast pinrails (b19).
The Fore Topgallant Yard:
The fore topgallant yard lifts (one each side) are of 0.10mm natural thread as shown on
Plan Sheet
8. The lifts (one per side)
are secured directly to the end of the topgallant yard, outboard of the stop cleats, and pass up and through the 3mm single
blocks (one per side) held in the topgallant shrouds. The running end then passes down and is belayed to the middle futtock
strop on the fore top (one each side) (b20).
There are no buntlines on the fore topgallant yard.
The Main Topgallant Yard:
The main topgallant yard lifts (one each side) are of 0.10mm natural thread as shown on
Plan Sheet
8. They are rigged exactly
as per the fore topgallant yard lifts and are belayed to the middle futtock strop on the main top (one each side) (b21).
There are no buntlines on the main topgallant yard.
The Spritsail Yard:
The spritsail yard lifts (one each side) are of 0.25mm natural thread as shown on
Plan Sheet
8. Referring to
Plan Sheet 6,
'Blocks Around the Bowsprit
Cap', a pair of 3mm single blocks (one each side) are secured to the copper eyelets (180) in the
sides of the bowsprit cap, the falls of 0.25mm natural thread are secured into the arse of these blocks at the same time. A tackle
is set up between these blocks and the 3mm single blocks on the spritsail yard arms and the running end now passes in toward
the bow (over the spritsail yard) and is belayed to the first timberhead (b22), one per side.
There are no buntlines on the spritsail yard.
