Chapter 16 Call Access Code

16.1.1 What You Need to Know About Call Access

Call Access Codes
Call access codes allow your authority group members to use their group's privileges
whichever extension they are using.
For example, you belong to an authority group allowed to make both local and long distance
calls from your extension. Your secretary, however, belongs to a different authority group and
can make only local calls. When you try to make a long distance call from your secretary's
extension the X6004 does not allow it and prompts you to enter the access code associated
with your authority group. After you enter the access code, your long distance call goes
through.
Extension Length
The extension length number determines whether the X6004 considers a dialed number to be
an internal or external call. The X6004 uses an outside line for external calls.
For example, if you specify an extension length range of 3~4, any dialed number of three or
four digits is treated as an internal call. Any dialed number of one, two, five or more digits is
treated as an external call.
16.1.2 What You Can Do in the Extension Management Screens
Use the Call Access Code List screen to configure the codes that unlock access to each
authority group's privileges. See
Use the Internal Extension Length screen to configure the number of digits your internal
extension numbers use. See
16.1.3 Before You Begin
When you configure the X6004's call access codes, an authority group member needs to enter
a specific feature code to access the authority group's privileges. See
for information on how to configure the X6004's feature codes.
16.2 The Call Access Code List Screen
