1.4.6
Ethernet LAN Interface
The Ethernet port allows the SSPA to be monitored and controlled from anywhere that the local
area network (LAN) can reach.
1.4.7
Redundant/Phase Combined Switch System
The redundant switch system is detailed in the dedicated manual that accompanies the switch.
The available switch systems include redundant configurations as well as power/phase
combined systems. All switch systems are displayed graphically on the front panel display.
1.4.8
Input and Output Power Sampling Ports
The power sampling ports provide a coupled sample of the input or output power signals.
Either a RF signal analyzer or a RF power meter can be connected at these ports, to monitor the
input or output signals.
1.4.9
Exhaust Duct
Use of the exhaust duct allows the evacuation of the hot exhaust air to an exterior location,
helping to prevent heat build-up in the amplifiers indoor location. The exhaust duct should
transition to an 8" duct within 1m of the output, or provide slightly negative pressure to
prevent amplifier over heating due to excessive backpressure.
1.5 About This Manual
This manual describes the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
for the Indoor SSPA. Because specialized training is required for some phases of installation and
repair, parts of this manual are directed only to trained personnel. Where appropriate, warnings
appear to caution the operators or technicians of potential RF and high voltage hazards.
Each chapter begins with a clearly marked tab that allows rapid access to a particular section.
The "Table of Contents", "List of Figures", and "List of Tables" are included at the beginning of
this volume.
Chapter 1, "Introduction", provides a brief overview of the amplifier and this manual.
Chapter 2, "Unpacking and Installation", provides instructions on preparing the site for
installation, how to uncrate, and make necessary electrical connections.
Chapter 3, "External Interfaces", describes built-in interfaces to external devices and gives
detailed descriptions for each connection.
Chapter 4, "Initial Power-On and Check Out", describes pre-power procedures on how to use the
control panel for start up and control.
