5 Operating Instructions DPOAE20

5.1 Using the DPOAE20 module

1. Contraindications to placing a probe in a patient's ear include a discharging ear, acute external
auditory canal trauma, discomfort (e.g, severe otitis externa) or occlusion of the external auditory
canal. Testing should not be performed on patients with such symptoms without a medical doctor's
approval.
2. The presence of tinnitus, hyperacusis or other sensitivity to loud sounds may contraindicate testing
when high intensity stimuli are used.

5.2 OAE Probe Tips

There are three different probe tips for the DPOAE20 OAE probe:
1) Neonatal probe tip (purple) old – used for infant and children
2) Standard probe tip (black) old – used for adult
3) Clear probe tip (clear)
The DPOAE20 module now comes standard with only the clear probe tip which fits all ages.
