Component Tests (continued)

Input tests

The INPUT tests allow the checking of the electrical operation of the two
document edge sensors and of the FORWARD/REVERSE switch. When
the sensors and switch are not actuated, HIGH is displayed. Upon
actuation, LOW is displayed.
To check the sensors and switch, perform the following steps:
1. Open the Top Cover.
2. Lift out and remove the Document Hold-down Guide.
3. Select INPUT from the COMPONENT TESTS menu. The INPUT screen
is displayed.
SWITCH
FWD: LOW
EDGE
FRONT: HIGH
PRESS START TO BEGIN
4. Press the Start key.
5. Using a folded piece of paper, actuate each sensor and observe that the
associated display goes from HIGH to LOW. Deactuate each sensor
and observe that the display goes from LOW to HIGH.
6. Actuate the FORWARD/REVERSE switch in each direction, and
observe that the associated display goes from HIGH to LOW.
7. If the required indications are not obtained, call for service.
8. Install the Document Hold-down Guide and close the Top Cover.
9. Press the Exit key to leave the INPUT SCREEN.
