Problem Solving

Scanner (continued)

The document's lead edge enters the gap between the feed tray and
the drive roll area
This problem is caused by curl in the lead edge of the document. Typically,
the problem is seen in documents that are stored rolled up and not flat.
Solutions:
a. Place the lead edge beyond the gap between the feed tray and the
drive roll area, and then insert the document into the feed rolls.
b. Roll up the document in the reverse direction to remove the curl,
then unroll the document and feed it again.

Images have gray areas caused by folds in the document

Some relatively stiff documents with creases or folds will lift off the platen
glass, causing a gray area to appear in the image at the location of the fold.
Refold the document in the reverse direction so that the creases become
flat. Then feed the document again.

An Error message is displayed.

Find the error message in the table on the next page, and perform the
Corrective Action indicated. If the corrective action does not solve the
problem, call for service.
