2.3 Objectives of self-
measurement of blood pressure
Your personal blood pressure profile
is an important source of informa-
tion. In case of drug treatment (e.g.
in high blood pressure) your doctor
can use your blood pressure profile
to tailor your treatment to your par-
ticular needs. The better your drug
treatment is tailored to your needs,
the better you will feel, and the less
you will suffer from side effects.

monitoring with Tensoval duo con-
trol will help you achieve this goal.
Many people manage to lower their
blood pressure through life-style
changes (such as losing weight,
dietary modification and getting
more exercise) to levels that do not
require drug treatment. Your blood
pressure profile thus gives you
excellent feedback on how success-
ful your life-style changes are.

2.4 Regular blood pressure
measurement
Numerous factors including physi-
cal exertion, taking drugs or the
time of day may have an impact on
blood pressure. Blood pressure
should therefore always be mea-
sured at the same time of day
under similar conditions.
Our heart may beat up to 100,000
times a day, producing 100,000
different blood pressure values.
