Modem connection test

Description
This test will verify proper modem connection to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelf.
This test should only be performed if a modem is required.
Modem connection test procedure

Verify the generic parameters of the modem are set to the following:
Modem parameters
1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, or 19,200 baud
•
Full duplex
•
8 data bits
•
No parity bits
•
1 start bit
•
1 stop bit
•
No flow control
•
Transparent data mode - ON
•
Direct operating mode - ON
•
Note:
require other options be set before using the modems to download generic software.
Refer to manufacture's manuals for instructions on setting modem parameters.

Verify that the modem cable is properly connected from the modem to J17 (MODEM) on
the backplane of the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelf.

Verify that the modem is connected to the phone line.

Select Administration -> Data Communications.
