a. For each trap recipient to be configured, enter a community name of 32 or fewer
alphanumeric characters in the associated Community Name box. The community name is
incorporated in SNMP trap messages to ensure against unauthorized viewing or use.
b. Click the box in the Write Authorization column to enable or disable write authorization for
the trap recipient (default is disabled).
A check in the box indicates write authorization is enabled. When the feature is enabled, a
management workstation user can change the HAFM appliance's sysContact, sysName, and
sysLocation SNMP variables.
c. Enter the IP address or DNS host name of the trap recipient (SNMP management
workstation) in the associated Trap Recipient box. Use 64 or fewer alphanumeric characters.
HP recommends using the IP address.
d. Enter a decimal user datagram protocol (UDP) port number in the associated UDP Port
Number box. (This number is commonly 162.)

To enable transmission of trap messages to configured SNMP management workstations, select
Enable Authorization Traps.
A check appears in the box when transmission is enabled.
Click Activate to save the information and close the dialog box.

Configuring and enabling e-mail notification

Use this procedure to configure and enable e-mail addresses and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
(SMTP) server addresses to receive e-mail notification of director (and other managed product)
events. The addresses must be configured via HAFM, then enabled.
Use these steps to configure and enable e-mail and SMTP server addresses:

At the HAFM main page, select Monitor > Event Notification > Email.
