can also be used. The TCP/IP network
protocol is used to set up a connec-
tion via one of these ports. You can
then open the Web console of the
OpenCom 100 and call up the Con-
figurator from there.

Brief Guide to Initial Configuration

Setting up a first connection is quite
simple with a standard Windows PC:
1. Turn off the PC. Remove all con-
nected network cables.
2. Connect the PC network card to
the LAN port. Use a cross-wired
Ethernet cable to do this.
3. Restart the PC. If you manually
deactivated the automatic con-
figuration of the network card
via DHCP, you must reactivate
this and again restart the com-
puter.
4. Start the Web browser. In the
address field, enter
"http://192.168.99.254/".
The login page of the Web console
will then open. For further details,
please refer to Configuring the
OpenCom 100 starting on page 54.

Note: This chapter describes initial
configuration of the OpenCom 100.
For day-to-day operation you can in-
tegrate the OpenCom 100 into a LAN
and start the Configurator from any
PC. For information on how to do this,
refer to the Configuration Examples
starting on page 62.
First Configuration via
Serial Port
1. The serial port can also be used
as alternative access for the first
configuration.Additionally, you
require a crossed serial line
("null modem").Install the "oc-
config" program from the sys-
tem CD. To do this, you must log
on as an administrator under
Windows NT or Windows 2000/
XP.
2. Shut down the PC. Remove all
connected network leads. Con-
nect the serial port of the PC to
the COM port of the
OpenCom 100. Use the connect-
ing cable that is supplied.
3. Restart the PC. Set up an RAS
link with the icon configured on
the desktop under step 1. Enter
"Administrator" without a pass-
word as your user name.
