Support for BMP on the S6000 Switch

Starting with Dell Networking OS Release 9.3(0.0), BMP 3.1 is supported on the S6000 platform. For details about the
commands and configuration procedures of BMP 3.1, refer the Open Automation Guide.

Enhanced Behavior of the stop bmp Command

The stop bmp command behaves as follows:
While Dell Networking OS image upgrade is in progress, it aborts the BMP process after the Dell Networking OS image is
upgraded.
When applying configurations from the file, it aborts the BMP process after all configurations are applied in the system.
When running pre-configuration or post-configuration scripts, it stops execution of the script and aborts the BMP process
immediately.
While downloading the configuration or script file, it aborts the BMP process after the download, and neither applies the
configuration nor runs the script.
When you enter the CONFIGURATION mode during the BMP process, warning or error messages are displayed to avoid any
configuration conflicts between the user and the BMP process.
Removal of the Deprecated User-Defined String
Parameter with reload-type Command
The user-defined-string parameter available with the reload-type command, which was deprecated in Dell Networking
OS release 9.2(0.0) and earlier, is now removed. The vendor-class-identifier parameter replaces the user-defined-
string parameter.

Service Tag Information in the Option 60 String

The vendor class identifier (option 60) supports up to 128 characters to include the Type, Hardware, Serial Number, Service
Tag, and OS Version fields.
Replacement of stop jump-start Command With
the stop bmp Command
The stop jump-start command is replaced with the stop bmp in BMP 3.1 and later. BMP versions 1.5 and 2.0 continue to
support the stop jump-start command.
