1.4.22 Margin Adjustment in Borderless Printing (Function code 66)
(User-accessible)
Function
This procedure adjusts the left, right, top and bottom margins for borderless printing. Print out a
margin check pattern, measure each margin, and enter the correction values.
Operating Procedure
Before starting the procedure below, be sure to set letter-size paper in the paper tray for
printing check patterns.
Top/left/right margin adjustment
(1) On your PC, drag and drop the "mediaadj_disc_mini11.prn" onto the Brother Maintenance
USB Printer driver icon in the Filedrgs window.
The machine displays the "Receiving Data" on the LCD and prints out the "MEDIA
CHECK" pattern (see
Tip: The check pattern can also be printed with Function code 61 (refer to
this chapter). After printing with a memory card, be sure to remove the card before
proceeding to the following step.
Tip: For models not supporting disc printing, the "mediaadj_mini11.prn" can also be used
instead of "mediaadj_disc_mini11.prn."
(2) Measure the top, left and right margins on the printed pattern.
The upper row of the left and right margins is for printing in 600 dpi, the middle row, for
printing in 1200 dpi, and the lower row, for disc printing.
(Example) Top margin: 2.7 mm*
If all the top, left and right margins are within the range from 2.9 to 3.1 mm, no adjustment
is required. If not, go to step (3).
(3) If either one of the top, left and right margins is out of the specified range, press the 6 key
twice.
The "Select 66?" appears on the LCD.
(4) Press the Black Start (Mono Start) key.
The "MEDIA SENSOR ADJ" appears on the LCD.
(5) Press the * key.
Disc printing models Wait for "TOP :30" to appear on the LCD and go to step (6).
Other models Wait for "LEFT1 :30" to appear on the LCD and go to step (7).
(6) To adjust the top margin, enter the measured top value (in units of 0.1 mm) multiplied by
10.
In this example, the top margin measured in step (2) is 2.7 mm, so press the 2, 7, and OK
keys in this order.
The "LEFT1 :30" appears on the LCD.
