CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
Ensure that the following conditions exist:

Ambient temperature is not too high.
External airflow is not obstructed.
NOTE: To maintain optimum thermal conditions, ensure that there are no obstructions to
airflow on the front and back of the enclosure. The front and back of the enclosure must have at
least 30 cm (12 inches) and 61 cm (24 inches) of unobstructed space respectively.
A cooling fan is not removed or has not failed.
The expansion card installation guidelines are followed.

Troubleshooting cooling fans

Prerequisites
CAUTION: The power supply units (PSUs) are hot swappable. Remove and replace only one PSU
at a time in a system that is turned on. Leave a failed PSU installed in the enclosure until you are
ready to replace it. Operating the system with a PSU removed for extended periods of time can
cause the system to overheat.
