Installing an expansion card

Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.

Ensure that you read the

Turn off the compute sled to which the expansion card is assigned.
3.
Remove the PCIe module.
4.
Open the expansion card release latch.
5.
Remove the filler bracket.
Steps
1.
Unpack the expansion card and prepare it for installation.
For instructions, see the documentation shipped with the card.
2.
Holding the card by its edges, position the card so that the card-edge connector aligns with the
expansion card connector on the PCIe module.
3.
Insert the card-edge connector firmly into the expansion card connector until the card is fully
seated.
4.
Close the expansion card release latch.

Power supply units

Your system supports two hot-swappable power supply units (PSUs) in 1+1 redundant or 2+0 non-
redundant configurations.
NOTE: Both PSUs must be of the same type and must have the same maximum output power.
NOTE: The PSUs have internal fans that provide thermal cooling to these units. A PSU must be
replaced if an internal fan failure occurs.
