Positioning and metering a letter

You can use the ultimail to meter letters and postcards. Format and material of
mailpieces must meet the specifications on page 175.
For thicker deliveries you should meter the empty envelope or use the special
FP labels.
Also use self-adhesive FP labels to attach on the mailpiece when the envelope
material is not ideal for inkjet printing.
Caution! Please observe the following note by Canada Post:
– Meter imprints have to be printed to a defined space according to the terms
of Canada Post. To ensure this, you have to feed mailpieces using a
manual positioner or a feeder / sealer (see Chapters 6.3.1 to 6.3.3).
Do not use the ultimail without manual positioner or feeder / sealer.
– Canada Post reserves the right to reject illegible meter imprints. Make sure
your ultimail prints flawless meter imprints without misalignments (refer to
page 19). See that ink cartridges are adjusted accurately and cleaned if
necessary (see Chapter 14.3 and 14.4).
How to position letters at the hand feeding tray, work with sealer or feeder and meter
labels, read on the following pages. Please refer to Chapter 5 for further information
on how to set meter imprint parameters.
You can select total pieces prior to metering. This function will help you to
have the metered deliveries readily stacked by numbers for the dispatch.
Read Chapter 7.3 on page 49.
