ultimail with feeder
6.3.3.1 Positioning letters in stack
Caution! Observe the following notes for stack processing:
– Only position letters in stack which are to be printed with the same meter
imprint.
– Only position in stack letters of the same format
(max. 229 x 114 mm / 9" x 4.5").
– Only position letters of nearly the same thickness ( 1 mm / 0.1").
The ultimail processes letters of a thickness up to 6.35 mm (¼").
– Observe the maximum stack height.
Markings at the letter guide face at the feeder indicate stacking height limits
for letters
Also refer to the detailed information on how to prepare and position letter
stacks for processing with the feeder ultimail 120 on page 163.

Positioning and metering a letter stack
If the ultimail is ready for operation you
can feed letter stacks for metering.
"Ready for operation" means:
– ultimail shows the home menu
– the postage value is displayed
– the status line shows
"MODE: METERING...
Machine ready".
• If necessary: adjust the letter guide
setting. The stack should have a
clearance of about 2 to 3 mm (0.1")
between letter guide face and
adjustable letter guide.
• Fan the letters: The lowest letter is
protruding.
• Place the letter stack with the flap side
face down on the belt conveyor. Make
sure that no mail pieces can penetrate
underneath the adjustable letter guide.
