4. Check the stop mode function
switch.
Refer to "CHECKING THE
SWITCHES" on page 8-259.

Replace the MCU (motor control unit).
Refer to "REPLACING THE MCU
(MOTOR CONTROL UNIT)" on page
8-174.
Transmission gear indicated in the multi-function meter right display does not match the actual selected
gear.
1. Check whether "Err" is displayed in the multi-function meter center display.
• If "Err" is displayed, refer to the troubleshooting when "Err" is displayed in "TROUBLESHOOTING
DETAILS (ECU)". Refer to "TROUBLESHOOTING DETAILS (ECU)" on page 8-43.
• If a fault code number is displayed, refer to the troubleshooting for the fault code of the faulty system.
For all other cases, perform the following procedure.
1. Disconnect the gear position sen-
sor coupler and check the pins
(bent or broken terminals and lock-
ing condition of the pins), and then
check the locking condition of the
coupler.

2. Disconnect the MCU coupler and
check the pins (bent or broken ter-
minals and locking condition of the
pins), and then check the locking
condition of the coupler.

3. Check for continuity (open or short
circuit) between the gear position
sensor coupler and the MCU cou-
pler.

4. Check the resistance of the gear
position sensor.
