6.1 Removing gearbox, vehicles with 1.6 l -
75 kW and 2.0 l - 110 kW (FSI) engines
– Before beginning with removal, "if possible" print out a diag‐
nosis log. Before sending back removed gearbox in the usual
manner, secure log to gearbox.
Brief description
The gearbox is removed downwards as a unit. The engine re‐
mains in the vehicle.
Battery, battery carrier, air filter and engine cover are removed
"from above". Engine and gearbox must then be supported so that
left assembly mounting can be removed.
Noise insulation is removed and drive shafts are pressed off "from
below". Gearbox is lowered using gearbox jack.
Note
The subframe is not to be removed.
