— Loose or broken away from forward
clutch drum.
— Broken at lo roller clutch cam.

& Reverse OK)
• Oil Level
• Forward Clutch
• Case Cover
— Incorrect level.
— External leaks.
— Feed in input shaft restricted (may occur
w i t h cold engine at fast engine idle).
— Leak between case cover and driven
sprocket support passages.
— Incorrect gaskets between case cover
and driven sprocket support passages.
NO DRIVE IN ANY
FORWARD RANGE
(Reverse OK)
• Oil Pressure
• Manual Linkage
• Driven Sprocket Support
• Case Cover
• Forward Clutch
• Control Valve Assembly
— See causes of low oil pressure.
— Not moving manual valve.
— Drive oil passage blocked in driven
s p r o c k e t
support or gasket.
— Sleeve loose or mislocated.
— Drive oil passage leak.
— Burned or damaged plates.
— Valve body pipe leaking or missing.
SECOND SPEED START
(Misses 1st A t Times)
• Governor
• Control Valve Assembly
— Springs distorted or out of place.
— Governor weights binding on pin.
— 1-2 shift valve sticking in upshifted
position.
— 1-2 throttle valve sticking in upshifted
position.
SHIFTS 1-3, MISSES 2ND • Intermediate Servo
• Accumulator Exhaust Valve
• Control Valve Assembly
• Spacer Plate
— Wrong or sticking apply pin.
— Seals cut, damaged or missing.
— Piston sticking or damaged.
— Porosity in case servo bore.
— Sticking, not seating.
— 1-2 shift valve sticking.
— Gaskets incorrectly installed.
— Governor feed to 1 -2 shift valve blocked.
— Intermediate band apply feed orifice
blocked.
— Wrong spacer plate.
