User Tools (System Settings)

User Code

By registering user codes, you can
limit users to particular functions and
check their use of each function. By
installing an optional external charge
unit in the machine, you can summa-
rize and manage data on each func-
tion and monitor function usage in
more detail.
Reference
User codes can also be registered
using SmartNetMonitor for Ad-
min (printer option required).

The management and control items

for each function are as follows:

When you set User Code Manage-
ment, entering the user code is re-
quested before using the Copy
function. This enables you to limit
users for each color settings.
The number of copies for each
color settings is counted for each
user code. So you can check the us-
age for each user.
Note

❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Document Server
When you set User Code Manage-
ment, entering the user code is re-
q u e s t e d b e f o r e u s i n g t h e
Document Server function. This
enables you to limit the users of the
Document Server.
The number of copies in Document
Server mode is counted for each
user code as the accumulated
printings.

When you set User Code Manage-
ment, entering the user code is re-
quested before using the Facsimile
function. This enables you to limit the
users of the facsimile transmission.
The number of copies for the docu-
ment stored in the document serv-
er in facsimile mode is counted for
each user code. So you can check
the usage for each user.

When you set User Code Manage-
ment, you can print documents
from the printer driver with the
user code registered.
Black & White documents are
counted as Black & White print,
and documents which includes
any of the colors are counted as
color print for each user code. You
can check usage for each user.
Note
❒ To register the user code of the
printer driver automatically, se-
lect PC Control:ON for the
printer in User Code Manage-
ment. If you use the user code
set in User Tools, select PC Con-
trol:OFF and set the user code
for each color. Set the user codes
registered in User Tools for the
printer driver ⇒ p.88.
